Following our recent AGM it was unanimously agreed to collect €80 from each household towards the running costs, upkeep and landscaping of the estate for 2008.
A works program for the Landscaping was agreed at the meeting and an amount of €80 was deemed fair and reasonable by all in attendance to get the estate looking good.
Your local street coordinators will commence the collection on the first week of April and we would appreciate if you could pay your subscription during this week. The street coordinators and the residents committee carry out this work voluntarily and it is difficult to make time to repeatedly call back to some houses.
Facts
McInerneys, the builder of the estate ceased grass cutting in the estate four years ago.
Although McInerneys technically own the open spaces in the estate there is no obligation on them to cut the grass or maintain the trees and shrubs.
The County Council have not taken in charge the estate and are unlikely to do so for a number of years
After they take it in charge they will only carry out a minimum level of maintenance.
The residents of the estate have funded grass cutting and general clean ups in the estate for the past few years
What are the benefits of having a good looking estate?
The estate will remain a desirable place for families to live despite competition from newer estates
Property values in the estate should remain high relative to estates that are not well maintained. (In some cases an estate that is desirable and in demand can command premium prices of up to €50,000 over similar properties in other estates).
A well maintained estate leaves a good impression on visitors to the estate
We look forward to seeing you at the door. The street coordinators will circulate a full copy of the minutes of the AGM when they are making the 2008 collection.
